My Story
I discovered Ultimate over a decade ago, and the rest is history.
I was lucky, throwing came naturally to me, I was born with some height, and I had passion at a time in my life (high school) when I had some spare time to dedicate to a piece of plastic.
Coming up the ranks within New Zealand and internationally I have always held on to one thing: that you can learn something from anybody, no matter their skill or experience
I spent years obsessing over throwing mechanics, studying elite players, and breaking down the nichest parts of our sport. It wasn'nt until I started formally coaching that I realised that I love having conversations and sharing in the learning process with other athletes. The organic conversations I'd have with teammates and friends about the game were often the most rewarding, and these conversations are what we will aim to recreate in our sessions.
Whether you want to make your national team, dominate your local league, or just throw confidently on the beach, I'm here to give you the personalized feedback you need.
Coaching Philosophy
- Experimentation: Play builds intuition and forms habits the fastest.
- Repetition: We will create exercises to cement learnings in organic ways as well as focussed drills
- Game implementation: Using constraint led exercises we will work through the stages of improvement on your way to game readiness for each thing learnt
What They Say
"I really loved working with Nick on my throwing skills. He was endlessly patient, but always looking to switch things up so that I kept improving. Through his help I made significant improvements to my forehand, as well as improving the mechanics in my backhand.
He also worked with where I was at in terms of throwing confidence. I had a tendency to decide a throw was too far for me before I threw, which would result in poor technique. Nick helped me work through that so I could trust my throws and keep good mechanics, even at longer distances."
